Complete Power Line Communication system consists of the PLC-BS and PLC-RS modems. PLC Base Station (PLC-BS) handles network of the Remote Station (PLC-RS) modems and creates communication channel between server applications and the metering devices. PLC-BS is usually placed at the transformer substation. It is used in metering systems for automated remote data reading of electricity, gas, water, heat meters and other electronic devices. PLC modems uses patented spectrum modulation technology for data transmitting over power lines that enables extremely robust power line communication.
